Alexis Woodrow aka "Evil Spinnerette" is a young girl who claimed to have taken up the spider motif before Spinnerette. Used magic and instructions gathered from Dungeons & Dragons books to turn herself into an avatar of the spider queen.

Personality[]

She is very perceptive, to the point where she knows a baited a trap when she sees one. She's also perceptive enough to not just identify but successfully search for superheros in their civilian disguises.

She is also very good at faking her emotions. In Issue 7, she voiced regret for turning herself into a Drider, and voiced interest in somehow reversing the transformation, fooling Spinnerette into helping her, only to later reveal it was all an act.

She has demonstrated an interest in preserving Heather as a worthy adversary, going so far as to resuscitate her after nearly drowning her. However, after a few years Alexis came to regret turning herself into a drider, struggling to make ends meet as a camgirl. Developing a crush on the A-Ranked supervillain Bloodcrow, Alexis made one final attempt on Spinnerette's life, blaming her for her perdicament. Feeling empathy for her rival, Heather passed their fight off as a promotional event for a roller-derby event. Following this, Alexis was torn between Bloodcrow's offer of a potential cure for her transformation in echange for relapsing into villainy, and Heather's offer of friendship and redemption.

Powers[]

Though Alexis was not born with powers, she does have an aptitude for magic. She also performed a ritual to the Spider Goddess Lolth, to make herself a drider. Now that she is a drider, she pretty much possesses all the abilities and weaknesses of spiders in the lower half of her body.

History[]

Resentful of her overaffectionate but controlling parents treating her as a trophy daughter and forcing her to remove a tattoo when she was fifteen,[1][2] teenage sociallite Alexis Woodrow discovered that the first edition of Dungeons & Dragons from the 1970s functioned as a grimoire and obtained a copy. Deciding to humiliate her reputation-obsessed parents by becoming a supervillain, at the age of sixteen Alexis formulated a plan to make a pact with the drow goddess Lolth using a ritual called the Rites of Lolth. Created a dominatrix-styled spider-themed costume and calling herself "Spinnerette", Alexis began stealing artifacts from museums around Columbus, Ohio. Reading about a rookie superhero also called Spinnerette in the Columbus Herald, Alexis ambushed her and demanded she relinquish the "Spinnerette" alias. Annoyed by Spinnerette's antics and being called "Evil Spinnerette", Alexis attacked Spinnerette and nearly killed her before being driven off by Mecha Maid and Tiger. Ambushing Spinnerette the next night and using some of her spider-infused blood as a catalyst, Alexis succeeded in making a pact with Lolth and was transformed into a drider. Declaring her intent to sacrifice all three heroes to complete the Rites of Lolth, Alexis easily overpowered Tiger and Mecha Maid but was subdued by Spinnerette using her knowledge of spider anatomy and mutton-busting skills.[3]

Placed on trial, Alexis mockingly told Spinnerette to call her by her real name. Owing to her age, Alexis was released into the custody of her parents pending a re-trial at a juvinile court and was mortified by them fawning over her in front of her nemesis.[4] Despite her D&D manuel having been destroyed by the authorities, Alexis conspired to turn her friends Dakota and Julian into driders as well. Deducing that Spinnerette's civilian identity was Heather Brown, Alexis formulated a plan to earn Heather's trust; appraching her in the Laughing Ogre comic shop, cordially greeting her, and getting into a debate over the merits of manga over Western-style comics. Dakota and some of her friends staged a bullying incident to earn Heather's sympathy. Over the next week, Alexis coaxed Heather into letting her guard down and invited her over to her parents' mansion, feigning remorse for having turned herself into a monster. The following day, Alexis told Heather she wanted to use the Rites of Lolth ritual to turn herself back into a human but needed help gathering supplies and purchasing a new first-edition D&D manuel.

Once everything was in-place, Alexis betrayed Heather by using the Rites of Lolth to transform Dakota and Julian into driders. Ripping apart Heather's fat suit with her claws, Alexis revealed it had all been an elaborate ruse and mocked Heather for falling for it; sneering that the real monsters were people like her parents and Heather who refused to accept her new form and sought to deny her individuality. Giving Heather a replica Spinnerette costume, Alexis embraced the "Evil Spinnerette" moniker and challenged her to a duel - threatening to kill Dakota and Julian if she refused. Having anticipated Spinnerette trying to use the same tactics against her, Alexis easily trounced and nearly drowned Spinnerette in the mansion's pool; having Julian film the fight as blackmail. Giving Spinnerette CPR and artificial respiration to recusitate her, Alexis told her nemesis she was leaving the city --satisfied with having proved her superiority by winning their fight -- and would keep her identity a secret.[5]

Some time later, Julian and Dakota converted to Christianity and left Alexis to join a mission. Alexis was summoned by the Editor alongside her counterparts from the 1990s and Silver Age timelines, but -- not wanting to fight her nemesis on someone else's terms -- Alexis again feigned repentence and claimed she'd given up supervillainy for modelling... though as she opened a portal to leave she swore she'd come after Spinnerette again on her own terms.[6] Setting up a Patreon account and becoming an online model, Alexis took advantage of her eighteenth birthday to transition into becoming a camgirl.[7] At an S&M-themed bar, Alexis encountered the A-ranked supervillain Bloodcrow and was starstruck when he began flirting with her, accompanying him back to his lair for a one-night stand.[8] However, the income from her camgirl work and Patreon -- while impressive -- barely covered the expenses of life as a drider, and Alexis -- lonely and resentful -- came to genuinely regret having turned herself into one. Blaming Spinnerette for her life's difficulties, Alexis mastered ice-magic and returned to Columbus for the Winter Comics Expo, under the pretence of promoting her modelling and camgirl work, mocking Spinnerette with the knowledge that she - as Heather Brown - was one of Alexis' Patreon supporters. Harassing Spinnerette and Mecha Maid from afar, Alexis conjured a magical blizzard that caused a severe traffic accident and Mecha Maid to crash into the Scioto River, saving her from drowning to the adoration of arriving news crews. Not buying Alexis claim to be reformed, Heather deduced that she had been behind the blizzard and confronted her at the Expo the following day. Faced with the threat of prison, Alexis lashed out at Spinnerette and tried to kill her, but was defeated. As Alexis tearfully demanded to know why Spinnerette had failed to save her, Spinnerette took pity on Alexis and -- rather than turn her over to the police -- passed the fight off as a promotional event for an upcoming superpowered roller-derby tournament.[9]

With Spinnerette using her connections at the ASA to make the "Super Battle Derby" a reality, Alexis came to enjoy life as a "pretend villain" and was partnered with Super MILF due to their shared "bad girl" image. Approached by Bloodcrow after winning a match, Alexis was invited on a date and torn between her attraction to him and newfound friendship with Spinnerette and the other heroes. Feeling out-of-place when invited to a karaoke bar by Spinnerette, Super MILF, and Mary Sue Megaton; Alexis fled when the server recognized her as a villain and panicked. Accepting Bloodcrow's offer of a date, she accompanied him to one of his lairs. The following morning, Bloodcrow revealed his backstory to her and showed her a syringe of CK Disruptor serum - developed by the military in an attempt to depower supervillains - that he had stolen and reverse-engineered. Informed that it would restore her human form for an hour, Alexis injected herself with it and went on a date with Bloodcrow, who informed her that the serum was extremely expensive to produce. Upon returning to his lair, Bloodcrow attempted to pressure Alexis into helping him inject Super MILF -- his archenemy -- with the CK Disruptor serum, promising that he only needed her out of the way for a heist he was planning. While sorely tempted by Bloodcrow's offer to supply her with doses of the serum and to research a permanent cure for her transformation, Alexis declined his offer after being texted a lunch invite and affirmation of friendship by Spinnerette; Bloodcrow claiming there were no hard feelings between them and that he would respect her decision.

However, at the next roller derby tournament Bloodcrow detonated a bomb concealed in one of Alexis' skates, causing her to crash into Super MILF and Mary Sue Megaton -- injecting them with a syrette of CK Disruptor that he had hidden in her costume.[10] Revealing himself, Bloodcrow brutally attacked and attempted to kill the depowered Super MILF, mocking her overreliance on her powers. Enraged at having been tricked, Alexis attacked Bloodcrow with her ice-magic but was sent flying by a blow from his wings. Angered by the sight of her friends being hurt, Spinnerette told Alexis to evacuate Mary Sue Megaton while she took on Bloodcrow, Alexis expressing concern that Spinnerette would be killed by him.[11]
